Caitlin McLuckie was awarded a scholarship by our alumni chapter in 2013. We are very proud to welcome her to our Buckeye Alumni family! Here is an update from Caitlin:
I graduated this year from Ohio State with a degree in Health Information Management and Systems (HIMS) magna cum laude. However, I did a lot more at OSU than just go to class. I was a member of the Dunn Sport and Wellness Scholars program, a living learning community that centers on a common interest of living a life in motion. I also served as a dancer in Buckeyethon, the 24 hour dance marathon to raise money for the hematology and oncology floors at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus. In addition, I was the Vice President of a student organization called A Kid Again. A Kid Again is an Ohio-wide organization that puts on fun events for families that have a child with a life limiting illness. I also served as President of HIMS Class Council, and as an ambassador for the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. I also had a part time job working with one of our adjunct faculty at a healthcare consulting firm, Cleverley + Associates, for three years. Other than clubs and jobs, I attended almost every home football game at the Shoe and as many basketball games as I could! (It should be noted that the buckeyes went undefeated against That Team Up North during my four years, my proudest accomplishment! )
As for my plans after graduation, I have accepted a job with Crowe Horwath, a public accounting firm. I interned with this company last summer in Chicago and was offered a full time position as a health care consultant. Although my team is based in Chicago, I will work remotely from Pittsburgh with a lot of travel.
I could not have asked for a better experience at Ohio State and it was bittersweet to graduate. It does make it a little easier knowing that I have plenty of Pittsburgh Buckeyes to share my love of OSU with and cheer the buckeyes on to victory!
